This January marked 10 YEARS since our company was founded. Crazy, right? We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings, met lots of great new friends and partners, and created countless solutions to make the world of ecommerce a better place! Let's take a look at the history of WhyteSpyder from its formation back in 2010 to today:
WhyteSpyder started out as a more traditional ad agency, helping businesses in Northwest Arkansas establish their online presence and develop ecommerce strategies. Living and working just down the road from the headquarters of the world's largest retailer, the WhyteSpyder team always knew there was a great need and opportunity for a company that could put it all together and make ecommerce make sense.
As WhyteSpyder grew, co-founders Eric Howerton and Alex Ahmad developed their strategy for winning at ecommerce, with two notable breakthroughs: They coined the term Markendising, which embodied WhyteSpyder’s unique approach to representing items online, and (with the help of an awesome development team) created the ecommerce tool SKU Ninja to automate and optimize item page management on Walmart.com and other retailers.
By 2018, WhyteSpyder was a full-blown ecommerce agency and Walmart Content Partner, offering content, photography, rich media, and, of course, SKU Ninja to Walmart and its suppliers. As we helped more and more brands, and Walmart itself, win at ecommerce, SKU Ninja's tools for making that work automated and efficient got better and better.
In 2019, WhyteSpyder leadership saw an opportunity to pivot and focus our team’s efforts on developing and improving SKU Ninja, which had grown into a fully-featured software platform for managing and improving items on Walmart.com. Our co-owner and CEO J.S. Bull joined the company, and we changed our official name to SKU Ninja + WhyteSpyder to reflect our software platform taking center stage.
Since then, we've been hard at work developing and executing new software and services to make it easy for anyone to win online. Our tools and process are always improving, but really, we're doing what we've always done: using our own experience working in the world of ecommerce to develop precise solutions to the unique problems of anyone selling their items on a major online retailer.
